Low-cost Advanced Biofuels by Aurora Biofuels

Aurora Biofuels announced a technology milestone in the company’s path to become premier manufacturer of low cost advanced biofuels. Through a series of biotechnology achievements, Aurora has been successfully optimize its base type of algae to more than double the CO2 and fuel consumption, production, and has proven results in the open outside the system for several months.

Using equipment developed in the field of molecular biology and biochemistry, Aurora Biofuels scientists have developed a proprietary process that allows for superior selection and maintenance of non-transgenic algae. With this novel technique, the company has optimized its base type of algae with the capacity to process sunlight and carbon dioxide to the algal oil. As a result, this type of algae can produce more than twice the amount of oil. Has been optimized to produce algae oil in Aurora Biofuels’ outdoor swimming pilot for several months, providing strong evidence that this type will remain strong in the industrial scale and remove more carbon emissions than previously thought possible.

“This is a breakthrough which shows that the algae can be done by increasing the productivity of the research laboratory to the field. Aurora What scientists have achieved is impressive milestone on the road to large-scale commercial production of algae,” said Kris Niyogi, a member of the company and the board of scientific advisors algal professor of biology at the University of California, Berkeley.

“This is a game-changing development for our company, because we optimized the new algae, novel crops and extraction processes to create world-class, low cost biofuel platforms,” said Bob Walsh, CEO of Aurora Biofuels. “There’s a lot of algae on the noise of late, but all talk until you prove that outside the house,” he said. “This is progress, it is to prove our days in the swimming trials, show that we have met the rigid criteria, and is now ready for demonstration-scale.”
