DUN-SOLAR 1700 TAPE Thin Film Photovoltaic Barrier

Dunmore Corporation announced the release of the new DUN-SOLAR (TM) thin film photovoltaic (PV) barrier products for thin film PV cell replacement. New Backsheet, DUN-SOLAR (TM) 1700 TAPE (Tedlar (R), Aluminum, Polyester and Polyethylene), four-layer construction), is in full production and available for use in manufacturing thin film photovoltaic solar cells. A solar cell is an important component in a solar module.

Although other photovoltaic modules offer higher efficiency, lower production cost of thin film PV cells are made with DUN-SOLAR (TM) 1700 TAPE more economical. Efficiency of thin film PV cells is expected to increase as a renewable energy continues to be a global focal point. In addition, solar modules using a new thin film technology for flexible – able to adjust to the curved surface – not stiff like his predecessor who used glass front panel. This new flexible thin film PV technologies, with lower cost-per-watt thin film PV cells, is used in modules made of:

* Copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS)
* Amorphous silicon (a-Si)
* Cadmium Telluride (CdTe)

“DUN-SOLAR (TM) our new 1700 TAPE thin photovoltaic backsheet product that effectively creates a vapor barrier height measuring less than 0.5 mg / square meter per day to protect the thin film technology, but still economically feasible,” stated Robin Kobren , Photovoltaic Team Leader in Dunmore, “while at the same time ties to a new breed Low Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate (MVTR) Thermoplastic encapsulants such as DNP, in a sense, an airtight seal in the cell. It’s not an easy task, but we DUN -SOLAR (TM) 1700 TAPE can do both! ”

Dunmore’s Full Line of Protective Backsheets
In addition to the new DUN-SOLAR (TM) 1700 TAPE, Dunmore backsheet offers a full line of protective products used in manufacturing solar modules. These products are now ready for photovoltaic projects and full scale can be ordered through either the U.S. or Europe Dunmore facility.
